Bullying @ WORK

Creating a highly effective workplace that is free of bullying and harassment.

Unfortunately bullying and harassment issues are becoming more prevalent in the workplace and dealing with them can seem like walking into a minefield.

The goal posts seem to be moving all the time and, understandably, many people just try and play ostrich with this topic, resulting in more issues not less.

Program content:

The major goals of this program are to:

Create a highly effective workplace that is free from bullying and harassment
Take the fear out of managing people
Improve the ability of team members to communicate professionally and effectively.

Clarifying the terms

The first part of this program, seeks to create a unified language about what constitutes bullying and what doesn’t, allowing for consistent and appropriate interactions between managers and staff.

Team Culture

The underlying philosophy of a high performing team is that ‘everybody in the team is given the largest possible chance of being a highly effective member of that team’. The reality, for many teams, is that people seem to be rowing in opposite directions.

The results: Underperformance, anxiety, frustration, stress,  harassment and the possibility of bullying (real or perceived), absenteeism, high staff turnover etc.

The solution: Develop an easy language that allows for free and simple communication amongst team members that deals with the issues, clarifies the goals & roles and thereby creates a team culture of support rather than frustration.

Sounds difficult!? Well it’s not and it’s exactly what this program does.

Key Learning Outcomes.
At the end of this program, participants will have:

Clear knowledge of what constitutes bullying and what does not.

A clearer understanding of the cultures that allows bullying to exist or creep in.

Confidence about how to deal with all aspects of bullying, resulting in a more proactive approach to dealing with it, and ensuring it remains out of the workplace.

Know how to create a team with ‘unified direction’, ensuring all members are pushing on the same wall.

The ability to communicate effectively with each other with less emotion and more focus.

A clear understanding on how to de-escalate emotional scenarios.

Finally, all of this resulting in the ability to improve performance without increasing harassment, bullying or stress claims.

Note: The Bullying@WORK program requires participants to have completed at least Series I of ‘Relationships@WORK’ in the recent past.
It can stand alone, although it would then need be run as a two-day program.

What others have said:

"Discoveries run very engaging and highly effective programs for the workplace. The learning outcomes are easily digested and are relative and real. Staff apply what that have learnt immediately in their day to day interactions with each other creating a more harmonious and effective work environment.”
